Skydiving
Now for a different slant on flying - instead of being in a plane, this is as nature intended humans to fly - with a parachute! Something I’d like to think I have the courage to do one day, these professional skydivers came down as part of the Air Show. They skillfully followed the same path and one even decided to do a flip!
Knowing the direction each of the 5 skydivers was going to take made it easier to get a photograph. It would have been great getting the shot of them jumping out of the plane, and being in the air before the parachute is engaged, but…. I half expected them to do something in unison, but no. One of the jumpers was a precision skydiver, which meant that he could land within a certain distance of a target nearly everytime. Considering there are all sorts of different factors which could affect landing - that’s pretty impressive.
Even as they came in to land interesting things could happen. The jumper below decided to come in on an angle, which made for an interesting photograph. Taking lots of snaps during an event like the Air Show does mean that you tend to experience the day through a viewfinder, but it’s worth it.
Definitely an event to keep an eye out for next year. It’s exciting to watch all the different types of planes, and see what pilots can do with them. A great experience!
