Fun Reflections

Following on from last week’s blog post, here are some photos of reflections - cast by the glass from the Q1 building at Australia’s Gold Coast.

When I went to some photography classes a few years ago, one of our ‘assignments’ was to photograph reflections.  Of course, the standard interpretation for that was the mirror like effect still water makes, or the mirrored outer shell of city office buildings.  Or, one that I found, was taking a photograph of a horse in the reflection of my car’s side mirror.

Even at the time, it didn’t occur to me to take a photo of a reflection in glass.  Below are some “self portraits”.  The first shows the ‘hot spot’ effect that flash makes, when directed at glass.

This second one is without flash.  They’re pretty ghostly images…

If I had my SLR to take these shots they probably would have turned out a little differently, but with the point and shoot camera I was using, the ‘effect’ is a little magnified.
