A Night at the Rugby

Anyone who knows me will be somewhat surprised that I went to a rugby game. I’m not much for watching sports - especially sports like rugby. I grew up in a football (that is soccer) household - my dad, my uncles, my cousins, they all play soccer - not one would even touch a game with that funny shaped ball!

But, when an opportunity was offered to me to go to a game, my inner photographer became interested.

Black and White Wedding Photography

Black & White Wedding Photography Reception

As mentioned in another previous post, I recently photographed a friend’s wedding. I’d decided rather than purely shooting in digital, to also go back to my old favourite - black and white film.

Not just any old black and white film, but Delta 3200 Professional Black and White film.

For those familiar with the effects of different film speeds, you’ll know that the higher the ISO number, the more grainy the result.

Previously, I’d only used 3200 black and white film for architecture photography, but never for weddings (previously the fastest I’d gone for was ISO 1600).

Photographing a Small Event

Events are very transient things.  Each moment is gone in an instant, and you can’t recreate it.  I photographed a small event last night and was reminded how you can’t plan for all contingencies, such as a fusing electrical street cable!
