Byron Bay Ocean Views
Byron Bay is a natural wonder. As the eastern most point in Australia, it boasts a colourful history and existence. It is standing contradiction where yuppies meet hippies and cocktails mix with marijuana smoke.
On a recent visit, I was reminded of how beautiful this part of Australia is. The majestic natural beauty is breathtaking, especially on days when the weather was as glorious as the day I was exploring the area.
Added to which, while admiring the view from the lookout, I saw a pod of dolphins swimming along the coast!
Unfortunately I didn’t have my telephoto lens with me (the 5d is heavy enough when you’re walking up and down stairs in a National Park…), so I had to content myself with a photo at 105mm and then the magic of Photoshop cropping.
On this visit, we walked to Little Watego Beach, which I had only ever seen from above before. It was a lovely place. Here are the gorgeous colours of the water, alongside the imposing cliffs:
No trip to Byron Bay is complete without some photo of the Lighthouse. I’ve taken many photos of this icon over the years, but here is a slightly different view. You get a feel for how isolated it is and how small it really would seem from the perspective of a ship out at sea:
This next photo was taken near midday, and you can almost see how strong the sun was:
If you ever are near this part of the world, I highly recommend you grab your camera and explore - it’s magical.
